Turner's view on the Daggers game

After last night's game Graham Turner, the Hereford manager, gave his views on the proceedings to BBC Hereford & Worcester. Below is an edited version.

"We've not really played tonight. I think we've had flowing football for the first thirteen games of the season. I think this is the first time we really have not played," said Turner.

"Part of it is down to Dagenham who I thought we a well-organised, strong, powerful outfit. Part of it our own sloppyness and a little bit stuck on our heals a time or two.

"We began to pump long straight balls and it doesn't work that way against two strong defenders. It was playing right into their hands.

"Just on the odd occasion we got it down and passed it we looked a lot better. We created one or two opportunities. Having said that we might have won it in the last five minutes. We had one or two good chances for Paul Parry. And from where I was, I thought it might have been a foul on Carey-Bertram in the box when the tackle took him before he got the ball.

"We ground out a draw in the end because we've been very good at the back. The two central defenders have been strong. Although they (Dagenham) had a lot of the ball there haven't been too many clear-cut chances for them. It you are going to be successful, you have to grind out results and that's been the case tonight. We've not played well. We could easily have finished with nothing. We got a point out of it.

"If you look at Dagenham, they will finish in the top six."

Discussing the season so far Turner said: "There's a third of the season gone and we are top of the table and apart from Shrewsbury, the sides in contention have all played 14 games. It's a position we would have been well pleased with at the start of the season and it's a position we're pleased with now.

Turner was disappointed with the four bookings. "It's not like us because you look at our record, we have got the best disciplinary record in the Conference. I think that was indicative of the way we played where if we pass it well we are on top of the game. We just got a bit niggly.
