Skinner: Caddis's next club will be lucky to have him

Aaron Skinner with Paul Caddis
Hereford's Aaron Skinner has thanked former boss Paul Caddis for "everything he did for me".

Skinner was among Caddis's first signings when he arrived at Edgar Street in 2023, bringing him in from Lancashire step three club Bamber Bridge.

Then 21, Skinner had started his career at Bury playing in their youth sides up to under-18 level, including playing in the squad which reached the quarter-final of the FA Youth Cup in the 2018/19 season.

In October 2019 he moved to Bolton Wanderers Under-18s, however within two months he was snapped up by Tottenham Hotspur.

He earned a pro contract with the Premier League side, featuring in their Under-23s.

He joined Bamber Bridge in November 2021, his most recent club before the Bulls.

Now in his third season with the Bulls, Skinner was part of Aaron Downes's first starting XI since being appointed Hereford boss. He played right wingback and won and scored a penalty late in the game as Hereford beat play-off hopefuls Darlington 1-0 at Sixways.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, Skinner said after the game: "Important win tonight, we won’t get carried away with 1 win knowing the situation we’re in but it’s a step in the right direction!"

Then, sharing a picture with Caddis, he added: "Would also like to wish the gaffer well wherever he goes and thank him for everything he did for me not only as a manager but as a person as well, his next club will be lucky to have a man like that leading them!"

In his first season at Edgar Street, Caddis oversaw an 11th-placed finish with 69 points, building on that to achieve 10th spot with 76 points last season.

During that time, he helped stabilise the club and forged a good relationship with supporters, reintroducing a feel-good factor to the club which had been absent for several seasons.

But that started to fall apart over recent months as the Bulls struggled to compete in the league. He was then sacked after last week's 3-0 defeat at AFC Telford United, leaving them nine points from safety.
