Downes Named Manager Of The Month

Hereford's Aaron Downes has been named as the National North League manager of the month.

This from the NL:

Our select panel came to their decision following a September packed full of league and FA Cup action - so let us introduce you to the recipients.

When Hereford pulled off their great escape on the final day of last season, Aaron Downes was just as delighted as the supporters.

But he knew the hard work had not even started - and a club of the stature of the Bulls could never be in this position again.

Little did anyone know that Edgar Street would be swapping a heart-racing relegation scrap for a ride at the top of the division!

A second impressive month of the new campaign saw Hereford drop just two points - including a sensational six-goal thrashing of South Shields.

They also beat Spennymoor and Harborough Town, before collecting a solid point at Bedford Town.

Paul Caddis (King’s Lynn Town) Adam Lakeland (Morecambe) and Jimmy Dean (Spalding United) were all also in contention - but Downes was the one honoured.
