Sam Osborne leaving Edgar Street – latest from manager Paul Caddis

Midfielder Sam Osborne is leaving Edgar Street, Hereford boss Paul Caddis has said.

Osborne has been a standout performer for Hereford this season since joining on loan from Alfreton.

But he has been recalled by his parent club, cutting short the season-long deal.

The 2-2 draw at Merthyr, where Osborne came off the bench despite not being fully fit, stands to be his last game in a Hereford shirt.

Caddis said there was a clause in the deal that allowed him to go back to Alfreton, though he said Osborne wants to stay with Hereford.

"I've made it aware I want to keep him. Through myself and Nik [Marsh, football secretary], we've tried to structure a deal, but sadly it's not been one that we can quite push through."

He added: "I won't stop trying, put it that way. I won't stop trying. So, as it stands, yeah, that was his last game."

Osborne has made 24 appearances for the Bulls, scoring seven goals. He will now be available for Alfreton as Hereford travel to Derbyshire on Saturday in what is a six-pointer at the bottom of the National League North.

Caddis joked: "Just as I finish this interview, I'm going to go in and two-foot Sam Osborne so he's out for the game."

But during the more serious part of the interview with the press, he emphasised how it's rare to get a season-long loan without a break clause.
