'Can't be laughed at': Hereford finally claim second clean sheet of the season

Hereford manager Paul Caddis has praised his side's defending after bagging their second clean sheet of the National League North season with a 2-0 win at Peterborough Sports.

Hereford's goals came in the second half from Gus Mafuta, a brilliant character, calm and a winner according to his gaffer, and I-Lani Edwards, scoring his first senior goal.

The Scot said the players acquitted themselves well and there were no five out of 10 performances.

When asked whether the three points or the performance was the most pleasing, the answer was simple: the points.

He said since former Kidderminster Harriers boss Phil Brown had been in charge at PIMS Park, the side had been excellent, only losing one game at home under him.

"We said to the players, it's not going to be a pretty game," Caddis admitted. "It's going to be tough."

But a chuffed Caddis told BBC Hereford and Worcester after the match: "Just really pleased with the three points, really pleased with the clean sheet - the application, the desire, that character and thought [we] showed it all in abundance."

Though Caddis was blunt in his assessment of the first half, saying it was a waste of money for fans.

"It wasn't a great game of football but I knew that was going to be the case," he added. "We just had to hang in there as long as we could - hang in there is the wrong word because I didn't think we were ever under any huge amounts of pressure.

"I thought we defended really well. I've got to say, I thought Keenan Quansah was outstanding.

"[I] thought he was outstanding and really patient, came in and I thought he was excellent so fair play to him."

After praising Kyle Howkins on his 100th appearance in a Hereford shirt, Caddis added: "A clean sheet on the road at any away venue in this division's something that can't be laughed at."

It is the Bulls' second clean sheet after 18 National League North games, the first being against Alfreton on 30th August.
