Match Report: Sudbury v Hereford

A Hat-Trick For Seb Osborne

Sam Cummins reports from deepest Suffolk:

A big win and five goals scored by the Bulls on the road sees us progress into The Isuzu FA Trophy 3rd Round. The goals coming from Andy Williams, Sam Osborne with a hat-trick and Eno Eto.

The starting line up for Hereford was Theo Richardson, Aaron Skinner, Kyle Howkins, Michael Parker, Lewis Hudson, Lawson D'Ath, Charlie Cooper, Sam Osborne, Omari Sterling-James, Remaye Campbell and Andy Williams.

On the bench was Keenan Quansah, Gus Mafuta, Eno Eto, Matt Richards and I-Lani Edwards.

The first chance of the game came from Hereford with a neat ball by Andy Williams found Remaye Campbell on the right who advanced into the box before hitting a right footed shot which was saved by Sudbury goalkeeper Marcus Garnham.

Omari Sterling-James then put a corner in from the left which found Remaye Campbell but his flicked headed effort went wide of the right hand post. Hereford's next chance came after the ball was loose inside the box before finding it's way out to Kyle Howkins who hit a half volley which took a deflection off a Sudbury defender and whistled over the bar for a corner.

The Bulls kept up the pressure with a succession of corners which didn't come to anything before the hosts had their first chance of the game with Callum Page’s left footed effort from the left hand side of the box which was saved by Theo Richardson.

Tommy Dettmar had their next effort with a left footed shot from the edge of the box which whistled over the bar before they opened the scoring when Callum Page had a low left footed shot from the left hand side of the box which was only palmed out inside the six yard box by Theo Richardson into the path of Marcel Lewis who tapped in from close range.

We went straight back on the offensive with Sam Osborne having a right footed shot from just outside the box which whistled over the bar. Sudbury then had a free kick near the left hand touchline, Marcel Lewis pumped the ball into the box before it found it's way out to Tommy Dettmar but his left footed shot went over the bar.

Micheal Parker had our next chance with a long range left footed shot which went high over the bar.

The Bulls then found an equaliser after a good ball into the box from Michael Parker was nodded down by Lawson D'Ath into the path of Andy Williams who made no mistake with a right footed volley which nestled into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

Apologies For Out Of Focus Picture

Sudbury's Callum Page then flashed a good ball across the face of the box which evaded everyone before Marcel Lewis had a right footed volley from just outside the box which flashed past the right hand post.

Remaye Campbell then did well on the right before he squared the ball across the box into the feet of Andy Williams but he couldn't quite curl his left footed effort enough and it whistled wide of the left hand post.

Shortly before half time we then took the lead for the first time in the cup tie to go into the break ahead after a good passage of play when Lawson D'Ath drove into the box before playing the ball through to Sam Osborne who dragged the ball onto his right foot before drilling the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

Into the second half and the first opportunity of the second period came from Sudbury with a right footed shot by Sam Cox from the edge of the box which was high over the bar. The first chance of the half for Hereford came from a corner on the left which was swung into the box by Omari Sterling-James right footed which found the head of Remaye Campbell but his effort was over the bar from close range.

Liam Pearce then had a right footed shot for Sudbury on the edge of the box which went wide of the right hand post before he then crossed from the right side of the box and found the head of Rocco Leeks inside the box which was saved Theo Richardson.

Sudbury were then awarded a free kick on the left touchline which was crossed into the box by Marcel Lewis and found the head of Charlie Lewis who was unmarked but he couldn’t keep his header down and it blazed over the bar.

Andy Williams was then hauled to the ground inside the box by Sudbury’s Sam Cox but the referee waved the appeals away.

Hereford then got a third goal after a good ball by Andy Williams found Sam Osborne on the edge of the box who beat the offside trap before lobbing the ball over the advancing Marcus Garnham.

Sam Osborne then went on a good run on the left touchline, beating Sam Cox before driving into the box and flashing a left footed shot just past the right hand post from a tight angle.

He then scored a sublime fourth goal to seal his hat-trick after cutting inside from the left hand side of the box before bending a right footed shot into the top right hand corner of the net which Marcus Garnham got fingertips to but couldn't keep out.

We continued to keep up the pressure up with I-Lani Edwards having a right footed shot on the edge of the box which went over the bar before Michael Parker went on a good run into the Sudbury half before laying the ball off to Andy Williams who ran onto the ball and hit a curling left footed shot which went just over the bar.

The scoring was then rounded out with a fifth goal shortly before full time after a poor clearance by Sudbury was headed on by Lawson D'Ath into the path of Eno Eto who drilled the ball into the top left hand corner of the net.

A comprehensive victory in the end which will hopefully give us confidence to take back into the Enterprise National League North with a trip to Bridlington Town’s The Mounting Systems Stadium next to take on Scarborough Athletic who are ground sharing with them this season. COYW
