Clubs Remember Colin Addison

Colin Addison With Gareth Davies At Hay St Marys

 A number of football clubs have paid tribute to Colin Addison.

Arsenal: “Everyone at Arsenal is saddened to hear of the passing of former player Colin Addison. All our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time. Rest in peace, Colin.”

Sheffield United: “Everyone at Sheffield United wish to extend deepest condolences to the family and friends of former striker Colin Addison, who has sadly passed away, aged 85.”

Nottingham Forest:“All at Nottingham Forest are saddened to learn of the passing of former player Colin Addison at the age of 85.

“All at the club send their deepest sympathies to Mr. Addison’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”

Newport County: Newport County AFC is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former manager Colin Addison at the age of 85.

Colin enjoyed two memorable spells in charge of Newport, first guiding the club through the famous ‘Great Escape’ of the 1976–77 season before returning between 1982 and 1985, where he led County to their highest post-war league finish in the 1982–83 campaign.

A man widely respected across the game, Colin’s contribution to Newport County and the wider football community will never be forgotten. He remained a familiar face at Rodney Parade for many years, continuing to support the club he helped shape both on and off the pitch.

Before moving into management, Colin enjoyed a distinguished playing career, making over 400 appearances, the majority of which came for Nottingham Forest, before going on to achieve success in coaching and management roles both in the UK and abroad.

Everyone at Newport County AFC sends their deepest condolences to Colin’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time. 

Derby County: Everyone at Derby County is deeply saddened by the passing of Colin Addison.

Colin managed the club between 1979 and 1982 and took charge of over 100 games for the Rams.The thoughts of everyone at the club are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

 Everyone at Yeovil Town are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Colin Addison.  Colin managed the Glovers for a short period in the early 2000s, and during his time in charge one of the most memorable moments was the FA Cup second round triumph at Blackpool. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone who respected him throughout the game. Rest in peace, Colin.
 
Swansea City: Swansea City is deeply saddened by the passing of the club’s former manager Colin Addison at the age of 85.

"Colin was in charge of the Swans between September 2001 and March 2002, during one of the most turbulent periods in the club’s history as a local consortium and supporters sought to wrest control from controversial owner Tony Petty.

"Replacing John Hollins, Colin and his assistant Peter Nicholas managed to provide some stability and keep the club clear of relegation problems amidst those off-field issues."
