Sudbury Head Coach Stands Down

Hereford have been drawn away at AFC Sudbury in the FA Trophy.

Sudbury are not having the best of seasons to date and earlier today their head coach stood down.

Danny Laws has taken the decision to step down from his role as Head Coach of the Men's First Team at AFC Sudbury with immediate effect. Danny kept the team up last season under difficult circumstances and unfortunately had to try to rebuild the team after several departures just before the new season started. Danny has done what he could for the team during this period but believes now is the time to let a fresh perspective bring a new stability to the team.

Danny said: “It’s always a difficult decision to step away, but I believe it’s the right time for the club to move forward in a new direction. Ultimately, managers are judged on results, and I’m the first to accept that the results haven’t been good enough.

I’d like to place on record that the support and financial resources the club has provided have been more than adequate and capable of achieving results at this level. Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to add enough value in the role of manager to deliver the results required.

Finally, I’d like to thank the players, staff, supporters, and everyone behind the scenes at this great club for their backing. I will continue to follow the team closely and wish them every success.”

Alicja Holland, CEO, commented "Danny has done his best for the team and will continue to support the club in other ways. His role at the academy remains important to him and the growth of the young players at our club and he will continue to make excellent young players ready for the first team in this way. I'd like to thank Danny for is time, effort and positivity throughout this process."

Andy Harvison , Chairman , adds that Danny will continue to be an important and valued member of AFC Sudbury. Danny’s work with our youth teams and the academy is central to the development of the club . ‘

Tom Austin will take over as interim manager in the immediate future. The club will endeavour to make a swift decision in relation to a permanent appointment.
