In an interview with BBC Hereford and Worcester, Hereford chairman Chris Ammonds has spoken about Ron Parrott whose death was announced this morning.
"The words club legend can be banded around in football a lot but Ron Parrott was an absolute legend for both Hereford United and Hereford FC.
"I put a post on X earlier today and said you could not fail to enjoy having a conversation with him about football in general and particularily about his love of football at Edgar Street and his love of all things Hereford.
"A really sad day, really sad news.
"I'm sure everybody within the Hereford football community will be feeling the same way,
"He was great company, he always had an opinion, he always had a view and in football that's the sort of person you want to speak to.
"I just loved catching up with him in the Excutive Club. I think he was a long standing vice-president's club member for Hereford United in the previous incarnation of the club.
"Every thing he said you knew he had the best interest of Hereford football at heart and all he wanted was the very best for the football club, he wanted it to be successful.
"He hurt as everybody did when Hereford United's days came to an end but he was excited as anyone when Hereford FC started its journey. Just a really sad loss.
"We knew he hadn't been well for a while but on the occasions you did see him at a game it was an absolute highlight.
"I spoke to the Malvern Town chairman this morning, there will be a one minute silence ahead of the friendly at Malvern tomorrow.
"That will be the initial opportunity to pay respects but I think once we enter the season proper he'll deserve to have a fitting tribute paid to him and get the acknowledgment from everybody he deserves, so over the course of the next week or so we'll make sure we do him justice. We'll be in touch with Elaine and the family to make sure they know that we're here and we will be supporting them.
"He was just a massive sports fan, sports fanatic.
"On Hereford there haven't been many books written about Hereford United or Hereford over the years, I would imagine Ron was responsible for 98.9% of the books written about Hereford football.
"He is a massive loss for everybody. We all felt it this morning when the news came through.
"You start to look at the responses on the official club website and facebook to know how loved he was.
"People are going to miss him and we'll pay the tribute to him that he deserves.
"He certainly won't be forgotten by us at the football club and we'll make sure there will be long-standing recognition of everything he gave to the football club and football in general."
