One Of Those Days Said Bentley

Southport manager Jim Bentley felt his side could have taken all three points from Hereford yesterday.

"I think it was one of those days," said Bentley.

"We've had a bit of illness so we came with a plan of changing shape for the first time with a 4 2 3 1 with the adaptability of going to a back three.

"And we didn't know what they were going to play.

"They had two lads making their debut, and one who had been on loan who rejoined yesterday, Bartley.

"We didn't realise they were going to play.

"They've made changes, were they going to change their shape. So it was a little bit mad on our preparation.

"We got here, went through the strengths and weaknesses of the Hereford side and what we expected, then the team came through, no Cowley, no Williams, Campbell is on the bench, Preston the big centre half wasn't playing.

"So you're thinking what are they going to play and they are probably looking at us and thinking what are we going to play because our back three have been dead settled and really solid.

"If you look at the game when you were 1-0 up sometimes you would be a little bit disappointed.

"But before the game you think you're coming to Hereford, good side, would we take a point?

"Probaby a little bit disappointed we haven't got the three but, like we always say, that might not play out when we look at the game.

"I'll have to see how their goal comes about. I'm not sure they had many shots on target second half.

"I'm disappointed we've drawn the game.

"I don't want to be a nearly side, people go that's not bad we got a point at Hereford who are a good side, well drilled, got good players, a bit of injection with new players.

"We've got to believe we can beat everyone."
