Hereford bring in 'emerging talent' on loan from League Two side

Hereford have announced they have brought in a 19-year-old player from League Two side Stockport County on loan until the end of the season.

The club said wide-man Jid Okeke arrives at Edgar Street after a previous six-week loan spell with fellow National League North side Chester.

He had a brief spell on loan at Stalybridge Celtic last season from Oldham Athletic, before moving to Stockport County in the summer. He was named on the bench for the first time in League Two last Saturday in their 3-1 victory over Walsall.

Stockport County said Emerging Talents star Jid Okeke made the move to Edgeley Park mid-season, having previously spent time in the academies of Oldham Athletic and Bundesliga 2 side St Pauli.

Emerging Talents is Stockport's programme for players between 16 and 20 acting as a "bridge between the academy and the first-team, providing the best individual progression plans to allow players to develop into contenders for the first team."

The 19-year-old, capable of playing at full-back and at wing-back down the right-hand-side, was said to have impressed during his short spell at the Deva Stadium, making four starts for the club and being named man of the match twice in games against Bishop’s Stortford and Banbury United.

Chester were unbeaten in the four games that he started, winning two and drawing two whilst keeping two clean sheets, with the full-back carrying a constant attacking threat down the right-hand side.

Okeke was on the bench when Hereford drew 1-1 with Chester at Edgar Street last month.
