Gowling Admits Bulls Gave Away First Two Goals

Hereford manager Josh Gowling admitted that his side had given away Spennymoor's first two goals in the 3-3 draw yesterday at Edgar Street.

"Their first two goals we gave away were from us in possession," said Gowling in his post match interview.

"We wanted to switch play and we put the ball back in the same areas, turned the ball over and we end up conceding from it. Frustrating.

"Their last goal, we were a bit tired, I think they had a bit of impetus towards the end. The ball gets turned back into the box and we've just not squeezed it. Probably should have got more of a block on it and then we would have won the game.

"I thought we were a threat all afternoon especially in the first half when I thought we were excellent in possession. We turned balls over well.

"I just felt when we scored we had a little period when they went 2-1 when we stopped doing what had got us in front. And that's a learning curve for the boys.

"Disappointing because it feels like a loss after the way we played but at the end of the day we've got our first point of the season.

"I think the fans can see the way we want to play this year. We want to get forward, we want to score goals, we want to be entertaining and you can already see we are a lot stronger than we were last year.

"We've still got Aaron to come back into the fold as well which will make a massive difference. And Tyrone was absolutely outstanding today, he well deserved his man of the match."

Gowling was pleased with how his latest signing Kane Thompson-Sommers played.

"We played him as a CDM then pushed him further forward and he did well in both roles. He's so comfortable on the ball. He wants the ball to play forward, he wins balls back, he's got great energy, he's got great legs which is what you need.

"You look at our mid-field at the moment and it's strong which is pleasing. However we've got to learn to manage games better at times and settle the ball down."

Gowling had a strong looking bench for the game.

"We brought Jethro on and Lekan has come on as well. We just looked a threat and have strength and depth in the whole squad."

The crowd soon got behind the players.

"They were signing and cheering all game.

"The only thing missing from the day was the win because six goals at home, the fans behind us pushing us on even at the end when it was a bit tough for us they were willing the boys forward and being the twelfth man. With these fans behind us the way they are, this place must be a fortress."
