Barnett Happy To Score Two Goals In His Debut

Tyrone Barnett scored two penalties for Hereford yesterday and there might have been a third later in the game as he told the local media after the game.

"He's brought me down in the box and I think that was the most blatant penalty of all three of them," said Barnett.

"Unlucky, but take two.

"For the neutrals I guess six goals in the game is pretty good to see.

"Disappointed after going in the lead twice, I think we should have seen the game out. But overall I think we'll be happy for a point and we can build on that.

"Certain things today I think were pleasing to see, certain things we need to work on so we'll watch the game back and then we'll build on that.

"We knew they were going to be tough today and them coming back from a goal behind shows they've got qualities.

"I think we had the better chances and I think we deserved the three points, we were just unlucky at the end.

"Personally being in a new team it's going to a while to gel, obviously I'm happy, selfishly, to score two goals.

"I would give myself seven out of ten for that performance so there's more to come. If I can get in the pockets and assist more than score I'll be happy with both.

"Over my career I'm a good aerial threat so I'm happy to help out and if it takes a bit of pressure off our defence me being back there I'll do that all day.

"I thought Thompson-Sommers was phenominal today. He's not has as many training sessions with the squad as we would like but I think he's done exceptional today and he'll get stronger as he gets to know the players. I think he'll be a good addition for us.

"There were a few arms going round today, if you look a my back I've got a massive stratch going down my back but that's football. It's a contact sport, you give some you take some. Part of the job."

How did you enjoy playing at Edgar Street today?

"I loved it, great weather, perfect weather for me a bit of sun, the fans were great, nice and loud, they carried the boys in parts of the game. If they can keep that attendance all season I think we'll be happy."

So next week a hat-trick?

"We'll take one game at a time. I've got to recover from today but if a hat-trick comes next week I'll be pleased but more important we want to build on the draw so if we can get a win whether I score if we get the win next week then that's most what I want."

Were there some mind games going on when you took the penalties?

"Not so much the goalie but the guys on the left side of the box were trying to get in my head so that's when I scored the second one I kind of gave him a bit back."
