Mangotsfield Clubhouse Suffers Burglary

Mangotsfield have reported that their clubhouse has been broken into.

This from Mangotsfield FC:

We can confirm that in the early hours of Wednesday 30 November, we were broken into and some cash was stolen. The premises were empty at the time.

Damage was also caused to the changing room door and our physio room.

The Police have taken a number of items away with them for forensic purposes. We are unable to comment further given the ongoing Police investigation.

If anyone has information relating to this crime, can they please ring the Police or Martin Preedy on 07887 532826

However, we remain open for business and look forward to seeing everyone as usual.

Davies Returns to Merthyr

Adam Davies
Hereford FC have confirmed that Adam Davies has returned to former club Merthyr Town following a short spell at Edgar Street.

In an interview with BBC Hereford and Worcester last week, Hereford manager Peter Beadle was disappointed not to have had an explanation from Davies as to why he wanted to leave the Bulls.

Merthyr manager Gavin Williams has welcomed the return of Davies.

"It is great news that Adam has agreed to come back to us," said Williams.

"We all know he is a quality player who will improve the squad that we have, and his return is a massive boost for us."

Salisbury On Saturday Should Attract Good Crowd

Salisbury are the visitors to Edgar Street on Saturday and the rivalry between the two 'reformed'clubs should attract an above average gate.

Whilst there is disappointment that Salisbury are not putting on a supporters coach for the game, it remains likely that the away following will be the highest at Hereford this season to date.

Tickets for the game are available online at https://herefordfc.cloudvenue.co.uk/salisburyfc
and from the club today (Wednesday) until 8pm. They will also be available on Friday between 10am and 4pm as well as on Saturday until kick-off.

Please note Blocks B, C and D in the main stand are already sold out.

With the weather expected to be less cold towards the weekend there is little likelyhood of the game being called off.

No Inspection Planned at Mangotsfield

Mangotsfield have confirmed that there won't be a pitch inspection ahead of tonight's game.

Should this change, they will update fans via Twitter.

Hereford Expected To Be Without Top Scorer Mills This Evening

Hereford FC are expected to be without top scorer John Mills for the game at Mangotsfield this evening.

Mills is recovering from a ham-string strain and isn't expected to be risked until 100% fit.

"We want him back as quickly as possible but fully fit not 70% fit as with hamstrings we know they are delicate things and if it was to go again or wasn't quite right he could make it worse. So we want him back 100% not 70%," said manager Peter Beadle after last Saturday's game.

No fresh injury concerns have been reported but with three difficult games in the next seven days, Mangotsfield, Salisbury and North Leigh, Beadle may consider some rotation of available players.

Right back Jimmy Oates who appears fully fit after injury will be hoping for a start but should Beadle select him it is difficult to know who he will leave out of the back four of Green, Preece, Fortune and Edwards who kept a clean sheet against AFC Totton last Saturday.

Likewise for Jamie Edge who is struggling to regain his place in the starting eleven after Rob Purdie and Mike McGrath have combined well recently in mid-field.

Last Saturday Pablo Haysham was given a role alongside striker Mike Symons instead of playing in the left wing position. Beadle commented afterwards that 'it will take him a little while to get used to playing in there again'.

Whether Beadle will keep Haysham upfront or possibly give Jamie Molyneux the chance to play in that position remains to be seen.

Evesham After Their 12th Win In A Row

Second placed side in the Southern League South and West, Evesham are hoping to break a club record this evening. Should they win their game at Didcot it will be their 12th win in a row.

"I believe the record is 11, so hopefully we can beat that," said manager Paul Collicutt as reported by the Worcester News.

"The lads are in good spirit but Didcot is a difficult place to go.

"We drew against them earlier in the season, so I want to put things right like we did against Salisbury.

"But Didcot are in good form and are one of only a few teams who have taken points off Hereford, so we have got our work cut out."

Study Trips Sponsorship At UITC

One of the UITC sponsors is Study Trips.

Their sponsorship appears of the back of UITC staff coats.

BN asked UITC's Mick Loader how this sponsorship came about.

"Study Trips are a subsidiary of Oxford International Education Services based in Greenwich SE London, they specialise in educational  tours for students/schools throughout Europe," said Mick.

"My son Warren is a director of the Company and wanted to help UITC in some way.

"I suggested the coaching staff needed kit particular during the winter months so he kindly sponsored both sweaters and outer jackets."

Hereford Can Be Beaten Says Mangotsfield Manager

Mangotsfield manager Dave Mehew feels Hereford can be beaten tomorrow evening given Salisbury have already done so.

“After Saturday's excellent win away to Bideford, we can go into the game with no fear and have a real go," Mehew told the Mangotsfield OS.

"Apparently we did "alright" at their place with four players with ten days of pre-season in them, and playing the favourites away in our first away game of the season.

"I think it's fair to say that something disastrous is going to have to happen for them not to win the league, but Salisbury in the FA Trophy showed they can be beaten by a team within the league, and I believe someone will do it this season at some point, so why not us?

"Under the Cossham Street lights and a healthy away following it should make for a great atmosphere and I hope our players relish the occasion.”

Who Will Be Hereford's New Chairman?

Hereford FC are set to appoint a new chairman after Jon Hale quit last month. The matter is expected to be discussed at this evening's club board meeting.

In truth Hale will be a hard act to follow. He led the new club from day one and helped ensure it got off to the best of starts. He was particularily good with the media.

Currently vice-chairman Chris Williams is in charge but it's thought he might not have the time to be chairman.

On the forums there has been speculation that director George Webb may take over from Hale. However BN understands that is unlikely.

The name of CEO Ken Kinnersley has also been mentioned on the forums. Whether Kinnersley would want the job isn't immediately known.

It's also believed Mick Langford has been approached to take on the chairmanship. His business background, financial knowledge and media skills would tick many of the qualities required.

There again it's quite feasible a new chairman could be an outsider. The benefactors may have already come up with a name which the board would almost certainly ratify. They could appoint such a person anytime and then announce he is to be chairman at the AGM on December 14th.

Currently the six HFC board members are Chris Williams, Martin Watson, George Webb, Phil Eynon, Mike Cole and Michael Langford.

Williams, Watson and Langford are the HUST members.

Another First For A Hereford Team

Mike Symons Scored Two Of Hereford's Goals Last Saturday
Last Saturday Hereford scored five goals in the first half playing towards the Blackfriars End.

BN asked Hereford historian Ron Parrott if this was another record for a 'Hereford' club.

"What a cracking question!" said Ron.

" I’ve really had to dig into my records for this one and yes, you’re right........ this is yet another record for Hereford FC! Never before have Hereford been 5-0 up at half-time with the score remaining the same after 90 minutes.

"However, I can come really close to it because in 1955/56 we were 6-1 up at half-time against Dartford in a Southern League fixture in a game that also ended 6-1.

"Over the course of our history, there have actually been 17 occasions when we have scored 5 or more goals in the first half but on 16 of these occasions we have gone on to add more after the break."

Girls vs Tuffley Photos

A selection of photos from Hereford U18's Girls 4-0 win against Tuffley Rovers this morning

South And West Weekend Review

This from the Southern League:

Hereford FC remain eight points clear at the top of the EVO-STIK League Southern's Division One South & West table after another comprehensive win on Saturday to pass the half century of goals, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

In front of another excellent crowd of 2,522 at Edgar Street, the Bulls had the game against third-bottom AFC Totton done and dusted by half-time with goals from Tristan Plummer after 15 minutes, Pablo Haysham eight minutes later, an Ian Oliver own goal on 34 minutes and a Mike Symons brace on 42 minutes from the spot and 44 minutes.
The hosts took their foot off the gas in the second half, with the Stags improving.

Evesham United remain second after winning the game of the day at the Jubilee Stadium against Salisbury FC – the hosts` eleventh successive win.
A crowd of 402 saw United move into a 2-0 lead through Lance Smith on 34 minutes and Ashley Williams on 65 minutes. They then handed the Whites a boost when they had Lewis Binns shown a straight red card.
However, it was the ten-men who scored a few minutes later through Nick Stanley on 74 minutes. Evesham were then clinging on as Steve Claridge`s side pulled two back in the final 10 minutes through Tommy Wright from the spot and Claudio Herbert.
Third-placed Tiverton Town and fourth-placed Mangotsfield United also won on Saturday.
Tivvy were 1-0 winners at Larkhall Athletic, courtesy of a 55th Owen Howe effort, although they had to play for the entire second half with ten-men following Ben Carter`s straight red card.
The Mangos won by the same scoreline at in-form Bideford, whose Billy Tucker missed a first half spot-kick before Matty Groves won it for the visitors five minutes after the break.

Sixth-placed Swindon Supermarine, however, suffered a 3-1 WebbsWood Stadium defeat to Didcot Town, who are now just a point behind, although back in tenth place.
In-form Diddy opened the scoring through Louis Joyce after 13 minutes and, after an Adam Learoyd own goal on the half-hour mark, the same player quickly restored the visitors` lead. Ben Whitehead made sure with a third at the end of the game.
Second-bottom Wantage Town suffered a 5-1 hammering at Paulton Rovers, whose Elliott Gibbons bagged a brace, with Will Hailston, Kallan Gould and Kane Simpson adding to that – Mark Francis netting a late consolation for the Alfredians.
Yate Town`s Harvey Baker scored the only goal just past the half-hour mark at home to Barnstaple Town, while neighbours Bishops Cleeve enjoyed a 4-0 home win over Wimborne Town, courtesy of a hat-trick from James Baldwin and one from Harlie Price.

Hereford FC To Support Children's Ward At Hereford Hospital

Hereford FC have launched an appeal to raise £8,000 for a 'magic carpet' which would be used in the Children's Ward at Hereford Hospital.

Taunton Team Of The Month

Taunton are the Southern League South and West team of the month for October.

This from the South and West:

Few will have missed the cup heroics of EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West winners Taunton Town and manager Leigh Robinson that have been thrilling fans at The Viridor Stadium.

Apart from battling to victory at Hemel Hempstead Town in an FA Cup replay to set up their historic first round proper encounter with National League Barrow, the Peacocks took maximum points from their two league outings and rounded off October by hammering Swindon Supermarine 5-0 in the FA Trophy having knocked out Larkhall Athletic at the start of the month in the preliminary round of Non-League's showpiece competition.

Hereford Will Go On To The Conference Said Totton Manager

Speaking to the Southern Daily Echo after his club were defeated 5-0 at Edgar Street yesterday, AFC Totton manager Louis Langdown felt Hereford are on their way to the Conference.

"We didn’t help ourselves with two own goals and a penalty but this was Hereford, a former Football League club who were playing AFC Bournemouth in League Two in 2005!" said Langdown.

“It’s great to have them gracing our league but, ultimately, they’re not the same standard as us and they will go on to compete in the Conference without a shadow of a doubt.

“We went at them second half and opened them up a bit, but the game was dead by then.

“Hereford praised us for our second-half performance…if only we could have started that way!”

UITC Girls Training Kit Sponsored By Joyce And Mel Powell

From Left: Laura Davies, Lauren Brown, Megan Holman, Mel Powell, Sian Bull, Joyce Powell, George Leyshon-Jones, Mick Loader

Joyce and Mel Powell have kindly sponsored the Hereford Girls training kit this season.

"As they've started a girls team, which was slightly later than it ought to have been, I felt I wanted to do something," Joyce told BN.

"So I contacted Mick and asked if there was anything I could do for the girls.

"Mike said yes, their training kit, and so we sponsored their training kit.

"They should have set up a girls team years ago when I was able to play, rather a long time ago!"

Mick Loader said UITC was very pleased with their support.

"We are a charity at the end of the day and ever single penny counts so if there are people out there who would like to put their hand in their pocket for the Christmas raffle we would be very grateful."

Joyce is reknown for her mince pies. Would there be some mince pies as a raffle prize?

"Special Golden Valley pies!"

Biggest Week Coming Up Said Beadle

In his post match interview Hereford manager Peter Beadle was told that Evesham had beaten Salisbury 3-2 this afternoon and so remain eight points behind in second place.

"All we can do is concentrate on ourselves. All we can do is focus on our own game and make sure we're ready.

"Going back historically Evesham had a fantastic run not last year but the year before when they went twenty odd games.

"We did that twice last year and we are doing it this year so yes it is going to be an epic game but it won't determine where anything is going. It's just another game with an opportunity to put points on the board."

It's Mangotsfield away on Tuesday.

"They're all tough matches. I said to the players at half time that we've got for me probably our biggest week coming up now, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday, two away games and a really tough home game in the middle.

"And if we can come through those three positively and with good points on the board it will put us in a good place.

"But they are never easy games and Mangotsfield came here and did quite well but it was the second game of the season. We played AFC Totton was the first game and it was quite close but we demolished them today.

"We're a different team to what we were then and they are as well but it's going to be a tough game and then we'll get ready for Saturday."

Beadle kept the same back four as the last game with Jimmy Oates on the bench.

"We looked at what we've got. I think the balance is great. We've got five lads there in the team that can all play centre half. We know that Mark can play right back, he played there for Chippenham this year, but we've got even better right backs in Jimmy and Greener who can play there.

"We have got players who can rotate position and play other positions so it's important we keep them all fit.

"We have spoken about bringing another defender in but it's tough to bring a defender in when we have five already. No one wants to come and sit on the bench here, everyone wants to play.

"Everyone is working hard. Jimmy had a bit of a knock the other week so he's been rested. He's come in today and had a part half and we'll see how he is for Tuesday."

Mike Symons Scored Two Of Hereford's Goals
For this afternoon’s game at home to AFC Totton, John Mills was still suffering with the hamstring injury he picked up at Bridgwater last weekend, with Tristan Plummer taking his place in the starting XI.

Attacking the Blackfriars End in the first half, Hereford started the stronger of the two sides almost taking the lead within two minutes. Mike Symons held the ball up well near the touchline before playing the ball back to Jamie Molyneux. The ex-Westfields man had little difficulty in breaking into the box, but the keeper managed to get a hand on the low cross ahead of Pablo Haysham.

A pair of Mike McGrath free kicks six minutes later didn’t prove too troublesome for the Stags defence, the first was headed over by Sam Roberts before the second was blazed well over the bar.

Totton’s first shot came in the 14th minute, but with Ryan Green and Mark Preece closing Dan Munday down, he sent his shot well wide of Alex Harris’ goal.

But Hereford remained on top, taking the lead moments later through Tristan Plummer. Clayton Fortune found Green in the area with his free kick, before Sam Roberts half cleared the ball for the visitors. After winning back possession, the Bulls worked the ball to Tristan Plummer in the centre whose low right-foot drive beat keeper Charlie Searle to open the scoring.

In the 24th minute Pablo Haysham doubled Hereford's lead. Ryan Green picked out Jamie Molyneux with a pass down the flank, before the 22-year old burst into the box. He crossed low to Haysham who turned the ball home from close-range.

Jamie Molyneux could’ve made it three before the half hour mark, but he couldn’t get a clean header on Joel Edwards’ cross as the ball sailed wide of the mark.

With 32 minutes on the clock, an own goal by Totton extended Hereford’s lead. Tristan Plummer played a neat through ball to Pablo Haysham, but Ian Oliver’s attempted clearance ended up beating his own keeper.

Haysham came close to scoring his sixth goal of the season four minutes later, but Searle tipped his right-footed effort from 18-yards over the bar. Moments later Mike Symons agonisingly sent his header wide of the upright after a pinpoint cross from captain Joel Edwards.

Five minutes from half time, Mike Symons was tripped just inside the area by Sam Roberts, leaving the referee pointing to the spot. In the absence on John Mills, Symons stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to score his first of two goals in three minutes.

The second followed a Hereford goal kick, with Alex Harris finding Edwards on the left. He then played the ball long into the path of Mike Symons who was through on goal, neatly finishing past the keeper to make it five.

Hereford would’ve been hoping for a similar performance in the second half, but their chances were limited and the visitors had the first effort on goal. Mitchell Gosney went close three minutes after the restart, but his curling effort whistled wide of the post.

The Bulls had one or two half chances within the opening stages, firstly Tristan Plummer twisted and turned in the area to get a shot away, but his tame effort was gathered by the keeper. Then Mark Preece threatened with his header from a corner, but went harmlessly wide.

In the 60th minute Pablo Haysham was through on goal, but the backtracking defence managed to dispossess him to concede a corner. With McGrath’s delivery bouncing around in the box, the ball eventually broke to Mike Symons who tried his luck from an acute angle, but once again the effort went wide at the far post.

Substitute Jimmy Oates looked bright after he came on, having handful of chances to score a sixth Hereford goal. His first shot was charged down by Ian Oliver after showing some good footwork to break into the area.
Moments later, Mike Symons held the ball up well before offloading to Oates whose shot was straight at the keeper.
A third came after the pair combined effectively once again to carve open the Stags defence, but Neil Williams blocked Oates’ powerful left-foot effort.

A great link up between substitute Jake Sinclair and Joel Edwards two minutes from time could’ve added to the goal tally, but after Sinclair’s back heel to the captain was saved by the keeper at the near post.

Edwards was then called into action and the opposite end, as his goal line clearance denied Totton’s Dylan Knight a late consolation goal.
